Tidbit Tuesday #46

I like to think I have an exceptionally good memory, except when it comes to eating three regularly scheduled meals a day. I’m sure it’s not healthy, but at least Dylan finds it semi-amusing. Because, you see, I don’t remember to eat until that suddenly urgent moment when I decide I will just collapse down dead if I don’t. Something just comes over me. And I NEED food right then and there. Or else.

Yesterday, my urgent go-to meal was a whole yellow bell pepper sliced up and dipped in ranch. Not sure what it is with me and vegetables these days. :)

Fact: I don’t drink coffee. Nothing about the taste or the smell has ever appealed to me. So instead, I drink hot chocolate from Starbucks cups, and hope it makes me look just as cool. Side note: Gotta love apartment lobbies with free Starbucks hot cocoa. I mean, coffee…

BRIDES! In an industry that is increasingly fostering DIY thriftiness, there comes a new website that is bound to rock your world. Launched just last week, Wedzu.com is a Texas-based online company very much like Etsy, except its specialty is all things indie, handmade and WEDDING. Whereas Etsy can often feel cluttered and overwhelming, Wedzu is much more targeted when trying to find that perfect cake topper or what have you. SO excited about this new resource! (P.S. Saying “what have you” makes me feel fake-smart.)

Dylan told me I’m not allowed to ask for photo-related gifts this Christmas. To which I replied, “What if photo-related gifts make me happy?” To which HE said, “Right. Like it’s going to be hard for you to come up with other ideas..” And well, Internet, he was correct after all. :) West Elm‘s got my back.

Speaking of Christmas! This will be my first holiday season without snow. :( With that said, I really have no idea what Texas-appropriate Christmas decorations look like. Red and green just feel blasphemous when you start hearing Jingle Bells at the mall and it’s still 88 degrees outside. Anybody have any suggestions for shabby chic Christmas decorum? Better yet, what is your favorite way to decorate for the holidays? I’m all ears!

Song of the Week: Whip My Hair by Willow Smith. No, I’m not even kidding. I’ve had this song playing practically nonstop since its music video debute last week. This girl is FIERCE. And when I grow up, I want to be just like her. Ya know, when I finally turn NINE years old.

Yesterday, I received an email notifying me of the successful renewal of my blog’s domain. Happy Birthday, sweet blog of mine!! I can’t believe it’s already been a year. But what good timing for a rebrand overhaul! I will be quite absent in the blogosphere for the remainder of the week, as Sunday is the launch date for our new site and revamped blog! Because there’s much to be done, Thursday won’t feature its usual photo goodness. Instead, keep your eyes peeled on Sunday, between your tricking and treating. I’ll be sure to blog all about it then! :)

In the meantime, here’s a sneak at Christine and Sandy’s recent downtown engagement shoot. More to come on the NEW blog!!

Happy Tuesday!

Randi-Michelle - Oh Alyse! Where was your knowledge of Wedzu when I was freaking out in the planning process?! Oh well, I made Etsy work for me, and it worked well. Just sad to think that I could have spent A LOT less time searching through loads of “not IT” on Etsy. Actually, those were pretty fun mindless hours. BTW – SO EXCITED FOR YOUR RE-BRAND.

Heather - OMGosh! I thought that I was the only one that did that with Hot Chocolate in coffee cups! (As I utterly dispise the smell and taste of coffee myself) I suddenly feel normal again! Am looking SO forward to the new Blog!!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

Diane - How about a lot of silver (which will be great with your grey walls) and a few colors from your very colorful pillows?

Jesslyn Amber - I just love your blog! You’re a breath of fresh air!

    1. Thank you for introducing me to Wedzu! One thing off of my 101 in 1001 list is to start a binder of all the things I want to do for my wedding! I am all about DIY, vintage, and shabby chic! I literally got butterflies when I looked at this website. THANK YOU! I’ve been relying on http://www.stylemepretty.com!

    2. Love that Willow Smith. She’s going to be a super star!

    3. I can’t imagine what a Texas Christmas is going to be like! I live in TN, and although we don’t have a lot of snow…it’s still cold outside and cozy inside. :) I recommend http://www.tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com around Christmas time! She posts some awesome vintage, DIY decorating ideas!
