Tidbit Tuesday #25

Better late than never. That is this week’s motto, for sure. It’s about 7PM on this fine Tuesday evening. But to be honest, “fine” is a bit of a stretch. I am in the midst of utter photo lab chaos. Thursday is.. Dun, dun, duuun: FINAL. PORTFOLIO. REVIEW. I’m stressed as it is. But when everyone else around me is stressed too, fuh’get about it. I can feel my glands swelling as we speak. Err, type. My body reacts pretty strangely to stress! Or at least, I, being the obvious trained medical physician that I am, think so..

But there is so much to be thankful for on this fine Tuesday. Yes, fine might be just the word. And why? Well, I am alive! I flew to Houston this past weekend by myself and I didn’t even die! Of course there were a few mishaps along the way. I.E., my rollerball inky pen exploding all over my coat because of the change in air pressure. But overall, it was a rewarding trip. So, get ready for a Tuesday full of Houstonness.

Clouds.. On the way to Houston, there were no clouds, and I was bummed. But on the way back.. OMG. Let me tell you, God has the most BEAUTIFUL eye. Total, drop-jaw, awe. It reminded me of that one scripture about clouds being the dust beneath His feet. And then – get this! – a rainbow. But it wasn’t a full rainbow, or even a half-rainbow. It was kind of an orb-rainbow. But still, a rainbow. And orb-rainbows make me happy just the same. :)

I interrupt this Tidbit Tuesday to bring you a little spiel on telemarketers. If you’re a photographer, you know that the kind of calls we get refer to our SEO sucking (even when it doesn’t), or some need for high school soccer portrait-takers all over the nation. For real? Leave me alone. I actually hung up on a guy yesterday right in the middle of his sentence. I immediately felt guilty. (Because I’m just that silly.) But then I felt all “BOOYAH! IN YOUR FACE!!” Speaking of telemarketers. MUST WATCH.

I have officially taken my last exam ever. Unless I decide to go to law school. HA! Now the only things holding me back from graduation in 12 days are two portfolio reviews, one paper, and a few more hours of “blehhhh.”

I’m realizing something. Something I never, ever realized before. I will miss Syracuse. Like, a LOT. If you know me, you know that when I love something, some place, or some one, I’m all in. I am very protective, nostalgic, and emotional. Sometimes, that’s not a good mix. (Some of you know this.) But hey, this is me. :) When I was flying back to Syracuse on Sunday night, the clouds finally broke just enough for me to see the lights of my city below. And then I realized. This is home to me. Like, legit. Four years is actually quite a long time. I’ve had so many experiences here. I’ve made so many sweet friendships here. And my wonderful new family lives here. It’s going to be terribly hard to leave, after all. And I wasn’t prepared for that…

On a similar note: My baby brother turned 18 on Saturday. My dad posted this Facebook album (Holla to all the parents on FB!) of all these pictures from when Cam was a little boy. I sat on my hotel bed. And bawled. And while I had burst into tears, Dylan burst into laughter because I was such a mess over the whole thing. What can I say? Protective, nostalgic, emotional. Yup. :)

So I know ya’ll must be DYING to see pictures of our new place. (And by ya’ll, I mean all 5 of you.) Well I have both good news and bad news. The bad news: I barely took any pictures while in Houston. As much as I love to, our whole weekend was wrapped up in just finding an apartment to begin with. Therefore, no pictures. But the good news: WE GOT AN APARTMENT. And it is the most wonderful space I could have dreamed of. Dramatic, much? I swear to you, though.. It’s straight out of Martha Stewart Magazine. Really spacious. Really open. Super tall ceilings. Arched doorways. Granite. Wood. LOVE. I’m sure you can picture my response when I first walked in. And even though I knew I’d be embarrassed about it later, I just couldn’t turn off the little hop in my step. (That’s code for: I jumped up and down and made a complete fool out of myself in front of the girl showing us around.)

I will leave you with just a FEW images from Houston. And they all focus on my favorite past time: FOOD! (Oh, and Dylan and I split some super girly drinks which didn’t help with my post-flight equilibrium issues, but it’s all good.) :) And final disclaimer: I’m almost positive I had a breakdown about Syracuse, or Cam, or something else before this image was taken. My eyes are only ever really blue after I cry. Just a little known fact for your fine Tuesday. :)

Have a beautiful day!!
