We’ve not been in our new home a full 24 hours yet, and the perils of home ownership are already rearing their ugly heads. They’re mostly laughable, really. Such as not realizing we’d hear a nearby train going by about every hour. Or having our AC cut out in the middle of the night. Or seeing a baby spider at the top of the shower. Or setting off the house alarm while letting Sully out to do his business. Or, Sully deciding to do his business at the foot of the stairs. :) All in all though, none of it matters. Because there’re no words for how much I LOVE it here!
I can be pretty hard on myself sometimes. The perfectionist in me will not be satisfied unless I finish tasks WEEKS ahead of schedule. But this week, I am vowing to give. myself. a. BREAK. There is a house that needs to be turned into a home… Boxes and boxes that need unpacking. Painting that needs doing. Towels that need distributing. Pinterest projects that need accomplishing. Surely I can give myself that permission right? Oh, but the guuuilt!! ;)
I’m determined to use this new phase of life to settle into some new routines. Number 42 of my 101 in 1001 goal list states, “Be better at keeping a schedule like someone who DOESN’T work from home (AKA, showering in the morning, getting dressed in real clothes, etc.)” I am happy to say I took a shower this morning! And I’m sporting a lovely pair of jeans with a yellow v-neck tee. :) Number 36 was also going well. Until I finished a Klondike Bar literally 10 seconds ago. AT NINE IN THE MORNING! “What would you do-oo-ooo?! For a KLONDIKE BAR?!”
Song of the Week: 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman. How can you go wrong with Matt Redman? YOU CAN’T. He’s a musical genius, with just enough British accent. This song puts me at peace, simply and beautifully. And you NEED to listen to it HERE. “You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger. Your name is great and Your heart is kind. For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing. 10,000 reasons for my heart to find!” Thank You, Jesus!!
I promise I haven’t forgotten about our lovely friends Aly and Marc. Their wedding will hit the blog THIS Friday, so be sure not to miss it!! Until then, here is one of my favorite images from their sweet day. I think it captures their love and excitement pretty perfectly. Plus? They’re just so DANG good-looking! :) XOXO!!
Happy Tuesday!!
Jessica - In the same boat, so to speak! Just moved to Boston and I’m having to balance my duty to unpacking with jumping on the T and going into town to walk around for five hours! Enjoy your new home! Fresh places, and the possibility for new routine, is exciting!
Chris P. - Congrats on the new home! I am new to the “10,000 Reasons” party but I love, love, love it. (I’m a sucker for a good drum beat :-))
