I’m in love… With my crockpot. My best friend got it for Dylan and I right before we got hitched, and I’m embarrassed to say I’ve only used it three times in two years. BUT, each time it’s made me smack myself in the face and say, “WHY on earth aren’t you using this more?! Why on earth aren’t you using this at LEAST once a week?!” And so begins my crockpot journey. Last week I made creamy chicken and biscuits, and it was quite literally some of the best food I’ve ever, ever eaten. And tonight? Herbed artichoke chicken! If any of you have crockpot recipes you’d like to share, hit me up in the comments. ;)
I have had the HARDEST time lately just getting up and making moves. Hence, why this blog post is occurring at 2:30tPM. Granted, it doesn’t mean I haven’t been productive in other areas. Since this morning I’ve driven Dylan to work, gone grocery shopping, wrote a little bit, prepared tonight’s dinner, edited some stuff, and watched more YouTube clips about Ben picking Courtney than I’m comfortable admitting… But still, even when I’m ahead of my work schedule, I can feel so unaccomplished and blehhh some days! It’s a strange rut I’m determined to get out of like NOW. Knowhaimean?! Oh, and rain? You’re NOT helping.
Yesterday, I got to see a crazy number of sneak peeks from my promo session with Mustard Seed Photography! If you’re a Twitter or Instagram follower, you may have already seen. But if not, do yourself a favor and check out the INSANE talent of my sweet friends Kat and Rachael. I swear to you, I do NOT look this good in real life. In fact… I sit here, one shoe on and one shoe off.. Wearing Dylan’s 76ers NBA Champs t-shirt from the 80’s. Having not worn makeup in three days. And with hair that’s just one big hott mess. So, like I said.. Mustard Seed Photography, ladies and gentlemen.
So, I’m trying to make some changes around here. Mostly changes concerning Alyse and her ridiculous quirkiness and perfectionist tendencies.. Just the other day I realized I was holding up someone at the ATM because I just HAD to fold my receipt PERFECTLY. And “perfectly” means a double-scored crease using a fingernail, people! Right then and there I decided to fold it all crooked-like on PURPOSE. And I’m not gonna lie. It sorta felt awesome. Like I was rebelling or something. I know you think I’m crazy… But HERE’S to being less obsessive and more rebellious! ;)
Song of the Week: I’ve Got This Friend by The Civil Wars. Dylan ordered a new batch of albums for us to listen to in the car – one of those being The Civil Wars. I believe I’ve listened to every single song on this disk about 30 times… And though every one stands out for its own reasons, I always find myself singing I’ve Got This Friend. You can listen along with me HERE because “the riiiight one caaaa-haaame alooong.” (See what I did there?)
This week the blog will feature Katie and David’s wedding at the Tournament Course Clubhouse in The Woodlands. Until then, here’s their first look!
Happy Tuesday!!
Jae - Civil Wars is quite possibly one of the most awesome duos to hit my ears with a song. Also, I’m probably going to be stone for it, but I love that Ben chose Courtney. Hurrah!
PS weirdly enough, today before I read this post, I tried to rid myself of an OCD tendency I have to need weird symmetry in things. It didn’t work. But your overcoming of the folding thing deserves a congrats. It’s all ’bout baby steps.
