This weekend, Dylan and I enjoyed having my parents in town for the first time ever! In between trips to the Houston Zoo, NASA, and our favorite eateries (which of course is simply a much cooler way of saying “restaurants”), my mom perused my ever-growing collection of Martha Stewart and Food Network magazine subscriptions. It was only after asking if I’d read one particularly “amazing” article in one of last month’s mags that mom also asked, “Do you EVER read ANY of these?” And it was after this that my answer (“I’m in it for the pictures…”) was greeted with semi-disapproving laughter. :) Which brings me to this month’s 1 For Me // 1 For You giveaway. But first? Let’s review the rules of how 1 For Me // 1 For You works!!
- What is it? It’s pretty simple! If I have one of something that I find fashionable, functional, or just plain fun, I send the winner a duplicate.
- Who can enter? Friends, past/present clients, random readers! Basically anybody. (Please see the not-so-fine print below for full rules and restrictions.)
- How long do I have to enter? You’ll have until next Saturday, October 8th at midnight CST to enter. The winner will be chosen at random using the random number generator at Random.org and announced the next morning, Sunday, October 9th.

Oh, and one more thing! While shopping at Urban Outfitters earlier today, I just HAD to pick up this 2’x3′ Home is Where You Are printed rug, which I believe to be the cutest compliment to this D*S book that could ever exist! Feast your eyes on her…

stephanie rita - I went to the Boston book signing of the Design*Sponge book even though I didn’t have it haha! I met Grace, she’s lovely. It would be awesome to have my own copy! Anyways, my little apartment is pretty cool, I love our big comfy couch in the living room. And the kitchen, mostly because that’s where the food lives. =) -s
Mischelle - The most favorite part of my home in the kitchen. I love to cook and expierement with new things. This on one way I show love to my family. I love it when we are all haning aroung in the kitchen and everybody tries to steal food and I swat their hands away (lovingly) and tell them to wait. I love all thinks that are litchen gadgets too!!
Heather - My FAV part of my home is actually PARTS of my home, the parts that are complete! Almost every room in my house has some sort of reno or future reno plans going on, however several rooms do have completed projects. The kitchen cupboards, (LOVE THEM) the almost complete living room and office. The upstairs bath was completed last year,(Stripes!!!). I love the parts that are done. (for now)
Riley Woods - My fave part of my new home in North Carolina is in general my room, but specifically the hand painted signs that I made from old fence posts. And after looking all over Eastern North Carolina for broken fence posts to make more, I finally found some to complete my wall!
Debby Morales - I love my home in general, but my favorite part would have to be my room. I painted it and designed it entirely on my own and that is what makes it mine! Design and organization are very big passions and I love that I was able to accomplish that in the most used room in my house:)
Amy Chandler - My husband and I painted three different sized canvases to hang above our couch in our living room. We painted a background of teal and green colors, then my wonderfully smart husband painted circles on top of the color. They’re so very abstract and lovely! They fit us and our decor very nicely. And that’s the favorite thing in our home!
Karina Colorado - KITCHEN table. We eat there every night and talk about our days, trade stories about the past, and even watch netflix…love it.
Erin - well. my favorite part is… ALL of it!! that it’s mine (and the bank, of course)! i have so much fun making over every room (and driving my husband crazy)with paint, flooring, sewing projects.. etc. The best part right now is my custom made deck bench/day bed and it’s colorful cushions.
Dana S - I love my dishes! Cream colored with a lace edge. Very simple but elegant and they go with any type of table decoration!
Athena - My favorite thing about my home is how cozy it feels. I love my reading nook and the space.
Sarah Korzun - I just repurposed 2 old beat up dressers that were originally in my grandparent’s house, and now they look great and unique! And can I just say I reeeeeeally want this book!! Love design*sponge :)

Catherine - My favorite part about my apartment is our large, sunny living room! We have lots of windows paneling the far end always letting in lots of natural light. A lot of summer afternoons were spent chatting there :)
Jess S - Oh, I have a two part answer to this one! My current favorite part of our home is our dining room (which is orange!) where everybody hangs out when we have friends/family over. The part of our home that’s becoming my favorite, though, is the little room we’re turning into a nursery for our first little one due at the start of May! :-)

Sarah - Alyse, i totally geeked out when i saw this was your October give-a-way – I love Design*Spounge and have been wanting to get my hands on Graces’s book!! I have so many favorite places in our house – surprising b/c it’s an old row house that never seems to stay clean. I’d have to say the kitchen is probably my fav. It’s where Jeff and I spend most of our time together cooking and talking for hours. Overall it’s still a work in progress, but it is definitely the heart of our home:)
Lauren Jolly - Hi Alyse! My favorite thing about my home is the lighting. I love how my house feels after a long day when the sun is going down and the lights are dimly lit in the living room. I just love to snuggle up with my man, my kitten, and some coffee and soak it all in (especially now that the colder months are coming)!
Danielle Nurenberg - My favorite thing about my home is that it’s a blank canvas for which I get to create a design. I also love it because it’s the first home that my (soon-to-be) husband and I will live in.

Michelle Lynch - My favorite part about my apartment is my entree way, which may sound really odd. All of my family, and a huge chunk of my friends live on the east coast due to my choosing to go to school here in Texas, which I adore. So back when I moved a few years ago I picked up a trick, that making my entree way feel similar to the one at home, just added with some pictures of friends & family it would feel like I was really coming back home. Over the years I’ve added some Texas things to my Georgia things and people love the mix, it really makes coming home feel like I never left.
Breanna Klontz - I am excited to answer this one, now that we are homeowners!! My favorite part is our bedroom. We just got new furniture and a tempurpedic bed i am in LOVE with. Also, there is one part of our kitchen floor (tile) which is always warm.. love that spot!! ;)
Jill Bogli - My favorite part of my house for sure is my bathroom. It’s the most “recently” remodeled room, so it’s just so perfect. Silver sponge painted walls accented with brushed antique lamps and purple towels. :)

a second favorite part of my home is the chairs that face the woodstove in our kitchen/dinning room. its the perfect place for a good read and to just curl up and relax. :)

Jen - Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! My favorite thing about our home is the memories – from newlyweds to a family of 5, we’ve built such a history here. We’re looking at new houses though, since there are so many things we’d love to change about our space, but it will be bittersweet to leave the home where our family really began…
