Next week is a HUGE one and I am soo crazy excited! Monday is our one-year wedding anniversary. (YAY!) Thursday is Dylan’s birthday. On Friday we leave for New Orleans. And Sunday is Father’s Day. In other words, one full week of celebrating! And I’m ALL about celebrating!! Now for all you seasoned N’Orleans pros, any suggestions on things to see/places to eat? And no need to push Café Du Monde. We’ll be there every. single. morning. :)
Have you seen the Williams-Sonoma goodies you could have a chance at winning for June’s 1 For Me // 1 For You yet? You should! AND you should also kick back and relax with a morning beverage in hand and read everyone else’s entries. But be careful not to spew your coffee everywhere while reading. These entries are completely HILARIOUS in every way. Speaking of 1 For Me // 1 For You… I want to cook. Like, for real. It’s become this strange fascination/obsession in the back of my mind that hasn’t really manifested itself in real life yet. But I am hoping it soon will, as I went on a Crate and Barrel binge the other day and bought more crème brûlée baking dishes than I’ll ever know what to do with. My nighttime reading material has also switched from my Facebook newsfeed, to reading my new cookbook. Which I realize is actually a little embarrassing now that I write it out… ;)
Now that my wedding schedule has calmed down a bit, my sleep schedule seems to be making up the difference. It’s not that I don’t sleep close to ten hours a night, because I certainly do – the old lady that I am. But it is clear that my sub-conscious wants me to dream of weddings on every one of my weekends off. And not just any dreams. But NIGHTMARES. On Sunday night I dreamt that I’d hired a non-photographer as a second shooter, who didn’t realize that second shooting meant she actually had to shoot. And it just so happened that the wedding we were photographing was set to high-speed. I.e., a first dance that lasted five seconds before turning into the mother-son dance. I missed the shot. And my “second shooter” did too. Oh, and I was then almost attacked by a shark…. Photogs! Care to indulge us in a little show and tell about your worst wedding nightmares? It could be therapeutic. :)
This past weekend consisted solely of watching WWII documentaries while cuddled up on the couch with Dylan. Why, oh WHY couldn’t they make it this interesting in the 8th grade? I couldn’t help but wonder… The History Channel’s WWII in HD was comprised of ten hour-long episodes of the most INCREDIBLE real life footage. No reenactments! As the website explains, “WWII in HD is the first-ever World War II documentary presented in full, immersive HD color. Culled from thousands of hours of lost and rare color archival footage gathered from a worldwide search through basements and archives, WWII in HD will change the way the world sees this defining conflict. Using footage never before seen by most Americans – converted to HD for unprecedented clarity – viewers will experience the war as if they were actually there, surrounded by the real sights and sounds of the battlefields.” It floored me, took me back to my roots as a photojournalist, and completely re-inspired me. Documenting life is SO important. Whether in war. Or in weddings.
Song of the Week: Worlds Apart by Jars of Clay. I’ve been in an old school Jars of Clay mood this week. And whether or not I’ve spotlighted most of their songs already, this week’s song is nonetheless Worlds Apart. Because sometimes it explains away every bit of my heart better than I ever could.
I’ll leave you now with this little sneak of Breanna and Ben’s big day. Breanna and I have been friends for 18 years, and just going back through all of her wedding images makes me sap like a tree. Set to post later this week! So stay tuned!!
Happy Tuesday! :)
Breanna - Oh boy i love them!! your going to make me sap like a tree too.. :) (that was cute) As far as wedding NIGHTMARES.. i have soo many, probably becuase i JUST got married.. the last one i remember.. “My mom ate the wedding cake before we got to cut into it and wouldn’t stop eating it. My hairdresser/makeup lady bailed and i had to do my own, and i was late for my own wedding” LoL Bre
