I feel like such a bad mom. I gave Sully a bath this morning. You know… In an effort to convince his vet that we keep him this pristine, white and fluffy 24/7. I also gave him some new flea/heart-worm medicine with his breakfast. Needless to say, any good mom knows that feeding your child new and potentially vomit-inducing medication directly prior to a forty-minute car ride will not yield very pleasant results. Once at the vet, Sully was diagnosed with some pretty nasty allergies and was given some eye drops he just loooved. (Hah!) He was also insanely rambunctious. The vet asked if I had kids yet, because “that will be Sully, times ten.” And then I scheduled his neutery (brand new word)… Like I said, I’m a bad mom.
In other news, I have ARRIVED. I am now on Pinterest. :) Much like most things I come to know and love, I’ve been putting it off for fear of addiction. But after succumbing to peer pressure and an imagined and urgent need to pin my entire dream house, I have arriiived. And y’all know you want in on my ever-growing wainscoting board. ;) If you’d like an invite, leave your email in the comment section!!
This past weekend, Dylan and I watched God Grew Tired of Us for the first time ever – a documentary exploring the journey of three “Lost Boys” from Sudan. You can watch the trailer *HERE* for a much better explanation. John Dau, one of the three, attended Syracuse University for a span of time in which Dylan and I were also there. I never got to know him, but I thought I knew his story. Watching God Grew Tired of Us taught me otherwise. It is for sure one of the single most beautiful stories I’ve ever been told. And if you don’t watch another documentary for the rest of your life, watch this one!
You know what I find absolutely amusing? The fact that whenever somebody is talking about a guy and refers to him as a “her”.. Or whenever somebody is talking about a girl and refers to her as a “him”… People BUST out laughing. Like, “Hee-haw-OMG-I-CAN’T-believe-they-just-said-that-because-it’s-just-the-opposite!!” Don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty of it myself. But really, if you think about it… It’s just not that hysterically funny. :) Which in itself makes me laugh. Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks about this stuff…
Song of the Week: Landslide by Stevie Nicks. Dylan made a terrible mistake by getting me one of the Glee soundtracks for Easter. Not because I don’t love it. But because I love it waaay too much. And the one song I could not love any more than I do right now is Landslide, originally sung by Stevie Nicks, but sung on the album by Gwenith Paltrow. In. Cred. Ible. Especially on repeat.
I’ll leave you with a sneak peek of Laura and Nick’s Kemah Boardwalk engagement session shot last week! These two are such an absolutely BLAST to shoot and hang out with. Their November wedding seriously can’t come soon enough. More to come tomorrow! :)
Happy Tuesday!!
Abbey - Landslide currently has over 60 listens on my iTunes… and that’s not counting the probably 30 times I’ve played it on my iPod. :)
Martha - What a sweet place for an engagement session! Can’t wait to see the rest of the shoot ;)
Aimee - Landslide covered by the Dixie Chicks is pretty awesome too!
Kourtney @ 7 Centerpieces - Hi Alyse-I would love an invitation to Pinterest.
Lelia - I’d love an invite to see your boards on Pinterest. I just joined this week myself and am thrilled about having idea boards online. :-)
