Something about having postcards and letters and save-the-dates from my brides up on our fridge, along with magnets to keep them there, makes me feel like I have somehow finally arrived into this thing called adulthood. If anybody out there wants to draw and send me a picture, you can be part of it too! ;)
Dylan likes to make fun of me. (Turns out I’m very make-funable.) One such reason for this is that I overanalyze pretty much everything. Particularly, camera angles and lens filters and lighting situations in TV shows and commercials… “Why on EARTH would they place her in THAT light?” or “Oh dude, what an awesome composition!!” The point is, I can’t just watch TV. I have to pick it apart. (I thank Newhouse for instilling such an annoying attribute in me..) So on a semi-related note, my latest realization concerns commercials. And more specifically, the actors in commercials. You see, commercials take on a whole new meaning when you realize these actors are REAL people trying desperately to get their big break into the world of prime time sitcoms and box office hits. You know, by dressing up as breakfast sandwiches and pretending that giving your kids Nutella is healthy. :)
Speaking of TV, Dylan and I watched quite an interesting array of documentaries on Sunday. First? The Art of the Steal, a piece on the Barnes Foundation and its struggle to maintain possession of Dr. Albert C. Barnes‘ 25 billion dollar art collection. (Not going to lie, it totally made me feel smart for 90 whole minutes.) We then watched a documentary on the excessive breeding of dogs called Science of Dogs by National Geographic. CRAZY stuff, Internet. And lastly, we ended the night with the most neurologically stimulating film of all… Toy Story 3. And I cried. Poor Woody.. Any good documentary/film suggestions for us?

Song of the Week: Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to get into Adele, but now that I have, I am soo completely in love. With her words. With her incredible voice. And with that amazing cockney accent. This Tuesday’s song of the week was a toss up between Set Fire to the Rain and Turning Tables. So do yourself a favor and just listen to both of them. :)
And now I leave you with the following sneak peek of Donna and Corey’s Houston Arboretum wedding. I do believe it was my first wedding shot solely with natural light. And these images have me gushing at the opportunity I had to capture such a sweet day. Full blog post to come tomorrow!!
Happy Tuesday! :)
esther - Um…Hello???? Nutella IS healthy.
Donnell Probst - I cannot TELL you how many times I’ve overanalyzed actors… the fact that they think a certain tone/expression/movement has a specific meaning and so they CHOSE to use it in that situation. I love when I can’t tell someone is acting. I try really hard and just can’t do it. Then I’m certain I will see them later on in something big…. or the fact that someday, the very commercial I’m watching could be on a “way back when” show about that actor. :)
Jill Bogli - I think every woman over anylyzises actors on a daily basis. Those who can see the imperfections of the commercial at least.
I mainly commented on this, to tell you, to go. see. Soul Surfer. Or at least, wait until it comes out on DVD. Minus the cheesy lines every few scenes, and Carrie Underwood’s fake acting.. It’s a GREAT movie. Super moving. I cried through the entire thing. Again and again. So go see it! :)
Molly - On May 14th, TLC is airing a documentary about Shoni Schimmel, a Native girl from Oregon who is quite the baller. Its called “Off the Rez”. I think it would be something both you and Dylan would like :)
kate d - adele is my favorite. and both those songs are uhhmazing. oh and you’re great. that is all. :)
