I call it, Operation: Find the Remote. Every single morning, I find it in a new place. Dylan gets up at 7:00AM. Me? A half-hour later. But within that short time span, Dylan will forget he’s put the remote in his pocket. In the closet next to the ironing board. On top of the drier. Next to the cereal. The only good that’s come from this is how much less TV I watch. Not because I’ve suddenly become too intellectually awesome for it. But because I’m too lazy to search every nook and cranny of our home just so I can have some background noise. ;)
Hands down, my new favorite part of the day is when Sully decides that he must, at the cost of banging his head on every corner he cuts, violently run around our apartment in a huge circle. We’ve noticed he does this twice a day: once after he eats in the morning; and again, after he eats his dinner. (Just had to throw a semi-colon in there. For kicks…) It’s like he’s so excited he just ate, he needs to release his newfound and short-lived energy by running laps.
GAH!! As all you northerners prepare to be snowed in all week, Houston is preparing for possible snow this Friday! The rest of my week will be spent praying that this comes true. Fifty degree winters are great and all, but half an inch of snow, coupled with watching all of Houston freak out, would be a real treat. ;)
Brides! In case you haven’t already heard via our Facebook, Twitter, or elsewhere, Anthropologie has just announced their brand new wedding line, BHLDN (which I can only imagine is code for “awesome”), set to launch this Valentine’s Day! It pangs my heart that this wasn’t an option when we got married eight months ago. But perhaps I could live vicariously through any of my brides who choose to go all out Anthro on us. :) Pretty please?
It must be my inner emissary’s need for adventure. EVERY single dream I’ve had lately has involved running from ninjas, averting bombs that go off milliseconds after I’ve made it to safety, finding myself in the middle of a firearm standoff with a fellow secret agent. I know.. I’m ridiculous. But at least my sleep is very entertaining. :) What are some of YOUR recurring dreams? Or themes within your dreams?
Song of the Week: This is the New Year by Ian Axel. Another artist we’ve discovered via the NY Songwriter Circle! I am not only endeared to Ian‘s music because he’s a combo of my old high school friend, Will, and one of my favorite professors of all time, Bruce… But his passion for creating music with a real message is so evident. You might recognize This is the New Year as the theme song for the new MTV series “I Used to be Fat.” A super powerful song about new beginnings. Played 76 times in three days, according to my iTunes. Yes, I am THAT girl. :)
He knows me too well. This past Sunday, I celebrated my 23rd birthday. Dylan woke me up with sounds of sizzling pancake batter. And as we ate our apple cinnamon pancakes, I carefully “unwrapped” a hatbox and pink gift bag full of birthday goodies. (Wrapping gifts is not Dylan’s forte.) Socks, because I steal his like it’s my job. Gum, because I go through a pack a day. A headband, because my hair’s at such an awkward length, I don’t have many options. A cocktail ring, because I like pretending I’m fancy. Pointy blue canvas flats, because I’m a sucker for shoes from Target. And the most gorgeous vintage camera I’ve ever seen. And I have a LOT. Meet our newest little addition, Exa. She’s German. :)
Happy Tuesday!
