Why is it I just can’t get a grasp on doing laundry on a consistent basis? It’s like I’m still in college. Wearing every last item of clothing I own before breaking down and spending $20 in quarters so I can finally have some clean clothes. Except now? It’s free. And it’s RIGHT here. I still resort to wearing t-shirts from the 8th grade in order to put off laundry for just one more day. But someday, I will grow up and be a real woman. I’m just not sure when that will be. :)
Half-Christmas is now less than a month away. So naturally, I took it upon myself to wrap all of Dylan’s presents a month early. Okay, all except the one, of which I wrapped just three of six sides. Had to get all ghetto when I ran out of that super-cute, overpriced wrapping paper I splurged on. But that’s okay. I had Dylan promise he wouldn’t move the box out of the corner until December 12th. ;)
Yesterday I was able to curl my hair for the very first time since getting it cut. Meaning, it’s growing! I can also now fasten it all up in a pony tail. Believe me, this is all a HUGE deal. And therefore, Tidbit-worthy in my book.
January can’t possibly get here soon enough! When Dylan and I made the big move to Houston four months ago, we agreed to spend a while getting used to our new city, our new home, and our new marriage before adding a puppy into the mix. Okay, okay. That was actually all Dylan’s idea. I didn’t like it whatsoever, but I stubbornly came to an understanding. Fast forward a few months, and we have FINALLY decided that in January, our little Sully bulldog will come home to us!! We’ll get him when he’s around 8 weeks old, which means he could literally be born any day now! And just in case you don’t realize how insanely excited this make me, then get a load of this: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Yesterday I learned that I use the word “wicked” a lot. As in, “It’s wicked hot… He’s wicked crazy… I’m WICKED funny.” I also learned that no one down south uses this term. Hence, why it was pointed out to me in the first place.. I think I’m going to be wicked aware of it from here on out. :)
Dylan and I purchased our Harry Potter tickets three weeks ago. (He’s read all the books, but I don’t know a thing about it other than the kid’s name is Harry Potter. I guess I just go to be supportive. And eat the candy..) Picture this: Two Fridays ago, we waddle inside the theatre after stuffing ourselves with Thai, only to be stopped in line with a startling “Uh, that’s not playing until next week…” We quickly glimpse at our tickets, and sure enough, they are for the following Friday. Fast forward a week. We stuff ourselves with sushi this time, and make our way to the same theatre. They let us all the way in and point us toward #11 upstairs. We then see that #11 is playing a completely different movie. We ask an employee where, oh where Harry Potter is showing, and he says, “Harry Potter? … That’s next week.” We check our tickets again, and sure enough, they are for next week. Aka, THIS coming Friday. THAT is a fact. And we’ve double-checked at this point.
Song of the Week: 1901 by Phoenix. We’ve been on a major Phoenix kick lately, but of course there are some songs that stick out more than others. And 1901? Well, it’s the sort of song that gets you some pretty interesting stares from fellow cars cruising down 59. What can I say? It just brings out the fist-pump in me.
Thanksgiving is nine days away and I’ve never cooked a turkey in my life. And this year ain’t changing that. :) Dylan and I have decided that rather than getting all stressed out over making a whole T-Day shebang, we’re ordering a full traditional Thanksgiving spread from HoneyBakedToTheRescue.com. Less than two miles away. A whole turkey. Three sides. Gravy. A PIE!! And way tastier than we could make ourselves, for sure. It sort of feels like a cop out. But it sort of feels like the best idea. EVER.
Question: How do YOU spend your Thanksgiving holiday? Are there any fun Thanksgiving traditions you and your family keep each year? My dad always read that story about the five kernels of corn. You know which one I mean? The one that truly is meaningful. But as a young kid still made you laugh at inappropriate times every. single. year? Yeah.. That one. :)
And here’s a sneak of Thursday’s post! Kim and Lindell’s Ouisie’s Table wedding. These two are the sweetest they come! :)
Happy Tuesday!
Alicia Pyne - You are WICKED funny! Enjoy Harry Potter this week! Hope it is worth all the trips to the theater. :)
Sarah - I love Thanksgiving! As far as traditions, we sing “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” before dinner. The more popular one is when the kids make turkey apples while watching the parade. The apple is the turkey’s body, a marshmallow the head, and various candies (licorice, gum sticks, raisins, gummy worms, etc) are secured with toothpicks to be feathers. I’m going to have to look into the book you suggested.
Breanna - Horray for Sully Bulldog! I would love a dog. As far as thanksgiving.. my cousins and I would alwasy have grammy roll eating contests which i usually was a champ in.. seriously though my Grandma makes awesome rolls! Then we would all get the newspapers and search for where our Black Friday shopping would take place!
Hayley Hughes - I know what you mean about saying “wicked”!! I learned very quickly to never say that because people looked at me in the strangest way. They’d respond “Wicked?” And I’d say “Yeah … wicked.” I’m glad I’m not the only northerner who experiences such things! =)
