Whenever I start feeling crappy, I gulp down 8oz. of water then drop everything and make a bee line for the gym. It just seems like the cure, right? This happened quite suddenly yesterday, and afterward I found myself feeling pretty swell. And the best part of all? I’m pretty sure I dripped ONE drop of sweat for the first time in my life! You see, I never sweat. Like, ever. At least, not like most people. (You wouldn’t know it because I apply deodorant obsessively.) But I TOTALLY sweated yesterday. Unless it was the AC vent above me leaking. Which I guess is more likely. ;)
My website now officially has more visits from residents of Texas than NY! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love, love, LOVE my NY visitors. But this is actually a sign that our business’s transition down South is going pretty darn well. And we are stoked. :) Keep ’em coming, Texas!
So, Dylan has this nasty habit. Okay, it’s not necessarily nasty. It’s actually sort of amusing. But it happens often and I notice every time. Dylan has this walk we call his “NYC walk.” Meaning, he literally walks at 30MPH, while I tag behind. But that’s not the problem. The problem is that as he walks always 2 steps ahead, he’ll start talking to me. But as he starts talking to me, he keeps his face straight ahead and doesn’t bother to raise his voice so I can hear him. The BEST part is that after I’ve said, “What?” three times, he still hasn’t turned his head, raised his voice, or slowed down. :)
There’s something about the art-form of tattooing that fascinates me to no end. The cool version of myself has fantasized more than once about having full tattoo sleeves and wearing shoulder-baring tanks 24/7. But the truth is, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to convince myself to get even one. And it’s not because I’m scared of needles. Or the pain associated for that matter. It’s more so because it’s just so permanent. I mean, what if I’m just not that into Charlie the Unicorn on my forearm ten years from now? ;) In the meantime, (aka, forever) instead of inking myself, I’ll just watch LA Ink… Love me some Kat Von D!
P.S. The only tattoo I’ve ever seriously considered would be the name “Hephzibah” spelled out in Hebrew on my wrist, meaning, “My delight is in her.”AKA, God delights in me. :) A powerful reminder, right where I can see it. Trust me, I’ve thought this through. But I’m pretty sure I’ll think it through until my wrists have shriveled away. Which begs the question – Do you have a tattoo? Do you love it? Do you regret it? Is it a unicorn? Does it have a particularly special meaning? I’d love to know your stories/thoughts!!
Song of the Week: Kids by MGMT. It for sure has the spookiest lyrics ever, and I’m not sure they make a whole lot of sense to me, but the melody and progression is pure genius, however 1980’s it may be. I simply can’t get enough of it. And then! Just imagine my delight when I found this video by the PS 22 Chorus! LOVE!!!

P.S. If you haven’t gotten a chance to enter November’s 1 For Me // 1 For You, click HERE! In less than 24 hours, the number of entries surpassed that of October’s from the entire week. Needless to say, things are pretty HOTT over here. Not to mention, cozy, functional, and scrumptious all at the same time. I’mma go snuggle up with mine. :) (And when I say “I’mma,” that’s the tattoo’d gangsta’ in me talking.)
Breanne - I have 4 tattoos and regret none of them…One i have is of chinese symbols that means family, friends, and happiness. The other that I love is a hummingbird and 3 lillies. The 3 lillies represent my brothers and my mom and the hummingbird for my grandma who passed away. Tattoos are beautiful! :)
Patricia - As far as tats…I have 13. One is a cover up of another tattoo, but even had I not had it covered, I would never have regretted it. I think the mentality of its permanence is something to consider, but there are so many other things that are permanent as well that we do on a daily basis that we don’t consider…that getting a tat..well…this coming from someone who has 13. I’d list them all…but it’s a long list, so I’ll say this. Each tattoo marks a very special and momentous occation in my life (which may be why I don’t regret them). Even if I’m not in that state of mind, it sometimes reminds me of where I’ve been..and how far I’ve come from that point. LOVE the new pic!!! What an adorbs lil boy :)
Barb - That’s got to be a genetic trait Dylan inherited from his dad. The cure…learn to walk REALLY fast too. Increase treadmill workouts!
Breanna - First- what a beautiful picture. As for tattoos i have uno! It is an Amaryllis flower on my right foot with chinese writing down the middle saying “always in my heart” for my grandmother “Nanny”. The story behind it.. She always kept a potted plant or two of an amaryllis and usually it only buds one or possibly two flowers. After she passed away my dad kept her amaryllis flower and shortly after she died.. a few weeks anyways her amaryllis blossomed and it had 4 flowers which is unheard of.. and she also had four childer. So i took it as her seding us all a sign that she is still here. Anyways… so that is why i choose my tattoo and i love it and don’t regret it a bit and never will. It is on my foot cause i figured when i get old and wrinkly my foot won’t wrinkle that much .. :-) The end!

Randi-Michelle - I have one, and I don’t regret it. It’s a tattoo in all black ink of the Hindu god Ganesha. He has an elephant head and rides around on a mouse – in the legends, not in my tattoo. Well, the mouse part. He does have an elephant head. Ganesha is the god of many things in the Hindu culture. One of them is overcoming obstacles. I’ve been through a lot of difficult experiences, and I’ve somehow managed to persevere through all of it so the idea of overcoming obstacles deeply resonates with me. That said, I did strategically place the tattoo for easy hiding in situations where it is less than ideal to show off your body art. PLUS, I LOVE elephants, like LOVE them. I have a rather extensive collection of them in all forms from wind chimes to teapots to a coin bank and figurines. They are smart, majestic and gentle creatures.
Jess Z. - Oh, how I WISH I had that problem with Ryan! He mosies (moseys… hmm, I’ve never had to spell that word before) along like he doesn’t have a care in the world, which, don’t get me wrong can be nice. BUT I tend to walk like I’m on a mission to get the last ice cream cone left in the world. Also, did I tell you I met Kat Von D AND have a picture with her?! Not sure if I did, but… I did! And that picture… amazing. I SO cannot wait to see the full shoot on Thursday! <3
stephanie rita - one tattoo. “beloved”, (in my own handwriting) on my wrist, the same place and reason you want to get one. so i can see it all the time and to remind my self that i’m a beloved daughter of Christ.<3
Terri - As for the tattoos…nope, none of those, but my son has one on each forearm.{“Take this life”…”Make it yours”} Couldn’t find a good reason to talk him out of that! It’s also his reminder of Who his life belongs to…
Alyse - @Terri – I was able to reroute your comments to their appropriate posts! Not sure why you were redirected! :(
Pete - The Speed walking runs in the family from my dad’s side.
All of us children have the same disease.
Kate D - So I’m currently listening to “alyse-style” music. anything joshua radin, whitley, matt nathanson, or william fitzsimmons esk reminds me of you. and your wedding and such. please, take it as the highest compliment. I’m in the same boat as you with tatoos. I think they are ridiculously cool and extremely engaging.. but I’m not so convinced I want one. forever is such a commitment to ink. love love love
Melinda - I myself have no tattoos…but my son & daughter who were born on the same day 4 years and 3 min apart went and got the same tattoo on the same arm (wrist) for their birthdays this past year. The tattoo is a combination of their grandmothers (who have both passed away) zodiac signs. It is a constant reminder to them of someone they loved and that loved them. The tattoo also sparks conversation and they get to talk about their grandmothers. A very nice dedication =]
Heather - Tattoos? I have 4. All have meaning and I have NO REGRETS. The largest however, (The Celtic symbol for peace) on the small of my back (that I got a age 16) slightly annoys me now. However, it IS on the small of my back and I can only see it on tip-toes wretching my neck around in my bathroom mirror. And the bright side? I can always cover it with something that means so much more to me :)
My newest??? I got just this past August: Two flowers on the back of my right shoulder: A purple Aster (The birth-month flower for September) represents my daughter and an orange Daisy (April’s birth flower) that stands for my son. :)
Loving my tatts and love to show them off even more!
