1 For Me // 1 For You | 3rd Edition

It was all he wanted… As I scoured the Internet and every Marshalls Home store in Houston for end tables and shelving and pillows and chair cushions. All he wanted was to pick out the coasters. To have that little itty bitty dose of input when it came to our home decor. And as hard as it was to relinquish such control – after all, coasters are important!! – I tried to do just that.. UNTIL he picked out four consecutive sets that I just didn’t like. At. All. (I cringe at myself just reading this. But hey, he’s the one who said he trusted my interior design instincts.) ;) It wasn’t until a visit to Crate and Barrel that the Morrissey coaster saga came to an end. Dylan made a fine choice. I approved. And we’re hoping you will too!

November’s 1 For Me // 1 For You features FOUR Crate and Barrel products that I can’t wait to snuggle up with as temperatures begin to drop in anticipation of the holiday season. But before we get into all that, how about a little recap on how 1 For Me // 1 For You works!

  • What is it? It’s simple, really.. If I have one of something that I find functional, fashionable, or just plain fun, I get one for one of you. Though I suppose in November’s case, it could be called 4 For Me // 4 For You. :)
  • Who can enter? Anyone and everyone. And their third cousins twice removed. Please see the fine print below for full rules and restrictions.
  • How long do I have to enter? You have until next Saturday, November 13th at midnight CST to enter. The winner will be chosen at random using the random number generator at Random.org and announced the next morning (always the second Sunday of the month).
  • Awesome! How do I get my shot at winning? You must comment (and answer the specific question asked at the end of the post) on this 1 For Me // 1 For You post to enter. Comments left via Facebook, Twitter or elsewhere will not be taken into consideration.
  • But why? Because among other things, it’s cool to have the same coasters as Dylan. :)

Onto the goods! Crate and Barrel‘s sandstone coasters have an ideal porous texture that soaks up condensation like WOAH. No more moisture rings permanently on your coffee table! Each coaster is complete with a “bull-nose edge and protective foam pads.” Not sure what “bull-nose edge” means, but that’s what the website says, so I’ll believe them. ;) You’ll also see in the picture below C&B‘s Brunswick ribbed stoneware mug finished with a bisque glaze. It’s dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. And it’s perfect for a Santa-sized helping of cocoa. (Can you tell I’m excited for Christmas?) And as I always say, a person can never have too many mugs! (I actually never say that. But I still think it’s true!)

Speaking of cocoa.. C&B‘s Chuao Chocolatier winter hot chocolate is “deeply flavorful Venezuelan dark chocolate… laced with nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and a hint of black pepper for a rich, spicy sipping chocolate.” In other words, it tastes AMAZING. Trust me.

Gosh, the only thing you need now is a cozy blanket to snuggle up with while you drink your hot cocoa from your new mug sitting on your new coaster! C&B‘s Fahey ivory throw is “handwoven in a nubby, tone-on-tone plaid combining the feel of fine wool with the longevity of synthetics.” It also weighs a TON, which alone is proof of its body and soul-warming capabilities. I am seriously so happy with the quality and the look of this blanket.

And one more so you can get a feel for its size. :)

There you have it! November’s 4 For Me // 4 For You. ;) Mine’s on the left. Yours is on the right. All packaged and waiting!

Question to enter: Which of these four items would you be most happy to win and why? (Don’t worry, you’ll get all four, I promise!) :)

Not so fine print: Only one entry allowed per person. All contestants must live within the continental United States and must be able to provide a valid mailing address upon winning. I am not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged during shipment. The winner will have 24 hours to contact me and redeem the item or a new winner will be chosen.

Amy Trimble - I would be most happy to win the throw because you will not find me in my apartment without a throw across my legs. I am often cold in my little apartment, here in central Texas, therefore, I would be most grateful to replace my old throw for a new, luxurious, warm one! :)
    -Amy

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:13 PM

Erin - Definately the throw! I’m always chilly, and Olivia and I love to snuggle on the couch under a blanket and read stories. This one looks soo cozy! But perhaps just a bit too white for a three year old…. :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:22 PM

Sarah Darbonne - I would be most excited about the hot chocolate because any kind of chocolate makes me happy! Being cajun, I also love spicy things and feel like I need to try this spicy hot chocolate!

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:23 PM

Jessica - i would be most happy to win the blanket because my best friend just got a brain injury so she gets cold all the time and i could give it to her for Christmas/birthday and yea. lol it would be great.

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:23 PM

HilarieMae - Okay. Crate and Barrel is amazing. So naturally, while holiday shopping, I make a point of stopping by one of their stores to coo over kitchenware that I’ll probably never buy but enjoy fantasizing about. I was in Boston a few weeks ago and saw this exact throw in their Boylston street store.
    And let the drooling begin.
After that long-winded explanation, the Fahey throw, the Fahey throw!!! It’s just so deliciously heavy. :) Great 1 for me//1 for you, Alyse!

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:26 PM

Megan Lange - I would LOVE the mug because who can have enough mugs?! That one looks big enough to fuel my long wediting days ;)

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:39 PM

Hayley Hughes - I feel silly about all of this, but hey, who doesn’t like to get free stuff? Especially stuff as lovely as that! I would definitely most enjoy the hot chocolate. I’m not a coffee drinker like so many of my friends (every one of them, it seems!) but it sounds delicious and sophisticated, and I think maybe I would feel a little more mature drinking something so fancy!

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:39 PM

Breanne - So I would absolutely love to win the blanket because it is a great color to do photos with especially newborn babies! It’s beautiful and has a great texture to it! :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 4:50 PM

Beth - I would love to win it to give it to my momma! My present to her is giving her a day off and I will do her Barn work on christmas day, believe me she needs the down time and she would absolutly love the hot cocoa. Let’s say there would be more than one cup of hot coca in that mug that day:]

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:04 PM

Imani Follkes - This is a hard decision, because every single one of those items would make me incredibly happy.. especially since I would use all 4 of those items at the EXACT same time while curling up on my couch and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas Story.. or any other movie ABC Family features on their 25 Days of Christmas special (I have a very specific imagination, huh?) So really.. all 4 items are like one big item to me.
But if I had to pick one that made me MOST happy. It would definitely definitely be the mug. 1) It’s gorgeous 2) It reminds me of all the ceramics I saw in Peru 3) I’m kind of in love with tea. 4) Having a mug that fancy might just inspire me to dig deep into my pockets and splurge on Teavana tea!

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:08 PM

stephanie rita - oh my goodness. that mug. i’m drooling looking at it. it’s so perfect.
also, DUH i want the same coasters so I can be as cool as DYLAN!

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:19 PM

kelly pape - well first of all you are completely correct about never having too many mugs, my momma gets us mugs for christmas every year and it never gets old!
and honestly i think i would be most excited about the blanket, cause i absolutely love heavy blankets and the woven look, they’re for real the best (:

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:30 PM

Noelle - I would be thrilled to win alllll of these haha! I absolutely love hot chocolate & mugs :) But ifff I had to pick one I would definitely want the blanket because I have a slight obsession with blankets..I love them and am always snuggled up in one at my apartment..and this one looks sooo comfy! :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:30 PM

Pam - Not exactly sure why but this month’s For Me/ For You brings me thoughts of a lovely French girl, that we both love. Perhaps it is the muted tones and thoughts of sipping lovely warm chocolate that conjures up the thoughts, or that I envision that beautiful French girl curled up on my couch wrapped in the throw, reading to her little American brother. Thanks for the images it conjures up. The Q&A: Most happy to win . . . cup, reminds me of the late nights I had, sipping tea and hot chocolate, chatting w/ Laurette.

  • November 7, 2010 - 5:43 PM

Jess - OH.MY.GOSH!!! The coasters FOR SURE!! I kid you not, I have been searching for the perfect coasters for over a month now with no luck. Ryan told me to just pick a set out because and I quote, coasters “aren’t a big deal.” I’m SO glad that someone else agrees with me. They ARE a big deal! They’re all out on our coffee table and such. So, to answer: I would choose the coasters (as much as I love that have that AMAZING blanket!). If Random.org is not on my side, well I’m going to hop on the T, go to Crate & Barrell (which happens to be my second home here) and buy those coasters!

  • November 7, 2010 - 6:04 PM

Lizzie Parker - Oh this post makes me happy! Hot cocoa in an amazing mug with super cool dylan-coasters and a cozy blanket… exactly my idea of a lovely winter day! I can’t decide which I’d like most of all.. maybeee, possiblyy the mug. i can never resist buying another mug.. seriously.. our cupboard is overflowing. and i have a box full of mugs that won’t fit in the cupboard.. haha. but the blanket looks soo cozy. actually i kinda want it all..haha :P nice choices alyse!

  • November 7, 2010 - 6:22 PM

molly fox - The Fahey throw! Because we have an ivory throw that got stained — currently it’s folded so as to concel said stain — and I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement!

  • November 7, 2010 - 6:29 PM

Riley Woods - I would love love love that blanket! It is so cold in my apartment on Ostrom! I miss being able to forget that someone is paying for the heat, because now it’s me! The other items would be pretty great too :)

P.S. Megan Lange, did you purposefully combine “wedding” and “editing” to make the word “wediting”?? If so, I love it!

  • November 7, 2010 - 6:30 PM

Samantha - Ok. So I would like die for chocolate!!!! And me sipping that hot chocolate with that awesomely comfy throw would be AMAZING!!!! I could prolly hide in my bedroom for like 10 mins with the hubby in the living room with the kids. Oh soooo delightful!!!! :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 6:44 PM

Melissa - Tough question but it would have to be the blanket… My house is old and drafty and I am never on the couch without a blanket in winter. Thanks Alyse!

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:02 PM

Meghan - I would be most happy to win the blanket! It looks so soft and luxurious; it is an invitation for fall and winter to enter Houston! I imagine myself wrapped in the white throw while reading one of Nicholas Sparks’ novels or watching a Lifetime movie marathon during my break from college! Blankets like this increase the enjoyment of the cool, refreshing days ahead of us!

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:15 PM

Mischelle Morgan - For me If I had to choose, I would choose the blanket. I am living in South Dakota, where the winters are cold. The home I live in has these amazing windows & French doors that lead out to the hillside. (I live in the Black Hills) In the winter the best thing is to wrap up in a warm blanket with a fire in the fireplace and watch the snow fall gently outside. The mug, coasters and hot chocolate make the picture complete, sitting there with a hot steamy cup of cocoa while watching the beautiful display of God’s artistry!

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:22 PM

Heather - Love, love, love the blanket!I am such a blanket fanatic! Not that the other picks aren’t awesome too, (hello! Hot Coca!!!) but I LOVE the blanket! Oh, and good job Dylan on the coaster pick!!! :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:27 PM

Erin Haase - Definitely the hot chocolate!! I’m practically drooling on myself just thinking about it!

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:33 PM

Claire - I’m most excited to win the throw. It gets cold at night times during the winter here, and that throw is super chic. :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:48 PM

Stephanie Fink - They all look great together, but tonight I’m most drawn to the hot chocolate.

  • November 7, 2010 - 7:50 PM

stacey - I would love to win that throw. It would be great for a cold nite.

  • November 7, 2010 - 8:35 PM

  • November 7, 2010 - 9:18 PM

Rachel - Travis said he wants the coasters, just because he saw yours and thought they were awesome, I would say the throw! Last night was fuuun, can’t wait for our next get together!

  • November 7, 2010 - 9:19 PM

Tamara Chewning - I would love to win the throw! It looks SO cozy!

  • November 7, 2010 - 9:31 PM

Diane - Definately the throw. It looks soft, warm, and beautiful!

  • November 7, 2010 - 9:39 PM

Diane L. - With winter coming to North Dakota, I would go for the hot chocolate!

  • November 7, 2010 - 9:55 PM

mary - Oh my all 4 go together so very well! The throw has got to be my favorite though as I am always so cold in the winter. Since moving to CO I just cannot seem to warm up and that throw would be a lovely comfort to this cold ol body!

    bee blessed
    mary

  • November 7, 2010 - 10:05 PM

lindsay - well, since judahbear is the BEST cuddley little guy I know, I would be most excited to win the throw to wrap around us during this upcoming wintery season…we would love it all up and get it ready for cuddling with annalyse! pick me! pick me! =)

  • November 7, 2010 - 10:25 PM

Kristy OT - The throw. All of our blankets are ratty and decades old and definitely NOT fashionable. I’d like to replace one :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 10:38 PM

Faith Still - I would like the throw the most. We live in Illinois and it gets cold!

  • November 7, 2010 - 10:48 PM

Heidi McMahon - Love everything but would really love the throw blanket. It looks so comfy-cozy! :)

  • November 7, 2010 - 11:10 PM

    janetfaye (at) gmail (dot) com

  • November 7, 2010 - 11:40 PM

Matt - The mug, because of its size. Although the blanket wouldn’t be bad and chocolate is always great. Also, am I the only guy on this whole list?

  • November 8, 2010 - 12:36 AM

Dana - I feel, probably unjustifiably so, that I am something of a hot chocolate connoisseur so I’d love to try C&B‘s Chuao Chocolatier and see how it ranks against other hot chocolates I’ve tried. I’m sure it’s deliciousness factor will be raised a few notches based on the fact that I’d be sipping it out of a new mug, resting it on a cool looking coaster, and keeping toasty under my new, soft and stylish throw!

  • November 8, 2010 - 2:34 AM

Norma - I really could use the coasters – nice thirsty coasters :)

  • November 8, 2010 - 2:35 AM

LAMusing - I’d love to curl up with that big mug filled with soup or cocoa

  • November 8, 2010 - 8:20 AM

Lamb - My vote would have to be for that beautiful throw. Hubby and I are planning to have a baby next year (maybe even on 11/11/11!) so I have babies on my brain. When I see a soft, cuddly blanket, I just want to snuggle up with a baby in it!

Lol, this is going to be a loooooong year! :p

  • November 8, 2010 - 8:52 AM

Emily - I am soo in love with everything that Chuao makes- every time I have to go to Trade Shows for work I search our the Chuao booth and sample all the yummy new chocolates- I would love to try their Hot Chocolate so that is what I would be looking forward to the most :)

  • November 8, 2010 - 9:12 AM

Randi-Michelle Cowin - Hmmm…it’s a toss up between the hot chocolate and the throw. I firmly believe you can NEVER have too many cuddly blankets. But then, Curtis is mildly obsessed with hot chocolate and I have yet to find one that satisfies me! Needless to say this is a bit frustrating because all winter long he wants to drink hot chocolate and I feel so left out of the deliciousness!

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:12 AM

Alecia @ Savings & Stewardship - I would love to them all, of course … but I would have to say that my favorite is probably the mug — I’m a total mug junky!! The throw comes in a close second, though, since I’m freezing at the moment and could use it :). Thanks!!

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:15 AM

Jess S - Hmm, I’m between the mug and the throw. I fall into the “you can never have too many” camp on both! Though with another cold Iowa winter predicted this year, I think the throw wins out!

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:26 AM

Lorrie - I would be most happy with the throw…love the look and the neutral color.

  • November 8, 2010 - 11:05 AM

Cassandra H. - I would love to win the Hot Chocolate! You made it sound so delicious, I think I am going to have to go and order some.

  • November 8, 2010 - 11:19 AM

jessica - hey there chica;) well, i love them all!!! but i think i would be most happy to get the cocoa in the mug on the coaster while on my couch with the blanket…cause that is a dreamy scene and how i love my winter nights!! they are all great…need me some porous coasters and love me a new fun mug! and a cozy blanket!!! and well, then there is chocolate that has a hint of black pepper…may just need to go buy that now;) hehe…

  • November 8, 2010 - 11:33 AM

  • November 8, 2010 - 1:23 PM

Tabitha - I’d be most happy with the throw. Who doesn’t love a good blanket? =)

  • November 8, 2010 - 1:36 PM

Carsen N. - As a law student, the whole package makes for a perfect study scene when I’m hitting the books instead of preparing for the holidays!

  • November 8, 2010 - 1:51 PM

A.D. - I would be most happy to win the hot cocoa. I love trying different kinds of cocoa and there’s nothing better than sitting on a day like today (in NY) with a nice hot cup of cocoa watching the snow fall!! (of course, having a nice new mug to sip from, blanket to wrap up in, and coaster to put it on would make for a superb evening!).

  • November 8, 2010 - 2:12 PM

phxbne - I love C&B‘s Brunswick ribbed stoneware mug finished with a bisque glaze

  • November 8, 2010 - 2:56 PM

So this is a cute 4for me/you one :-) Love it. My favorite is the mug of course. You are right you can NEVER have enough mugs.. especially when you are us and drink coco every day atleast once. Awesome pick!! xoxo Bre & Ben

  • November 8, 2010 - 8:59 PM

Jill Bogli - Deffinately the throw blanket. I have a weird thing with throws. Come one Alyse, you know first hand what New England is like. Even during the summer, I’ve got to have one. I just adore the thought, and feel, of having a blanket to snuggle up in. And what’s better than lighting the fire place, sitting on the couch with your blanky drinking hot cocoa with whipped cream :)

  • November 8, 2010 - 9:32 PM

Tyler Reavis - Love love LOVE the coasters!

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:08 PM

Chelle - I would dive into that hot chocolate. I am pregnant so no coffee for moi. Maybe I could try to make a mock-mocha with it and some decaf. ;)

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:08 PM

Danielle McGee - The throw, of course. Sure I live in Houston, TX and, sure, it rarely ever gets cold enough to need 4 comfy throws around my apartment. However, there’s something about having a blanket in every room that makes me feel like I’ve made a home out of this “house”. (Wow, that was really corny but I refuse to delete!)

  • November 8, 2010 - 10:33 PM

Libby - The throw blanket looks lovely!

  • November 9, 2010 - 8:50 AM

Jeanie - Can I just say that I love your new brand Alyse! You make me what to find a way to be a lawyer and designer! I have no idea how that would work, but I’ll let you know when I do! hehe Maybe if I had some yummy hot cocoa, I could get started on that! ;)

  • November 9, 2010 - 9:24 AM

Melody - Oh my heavens, I love me some Crate & Barrel. It’s so traumatic that I live so far from any store. Honestly, the hot chocolate sounds so delish, it would probably be my choice, especially now that the weather is getting colder. Thanks for the chance!

  • November 9, 2010 - 9:43 AM

Mike - My legit roommates and I yearn to be classy men of chivalry, and so what better than to own the coasters that another man of chivalry picked out? Maybe that way our table will stop becoming a Kandinsky study on circles.

  • November 9, 2010 - 10:17 AM

Teresa - I think I would really like the Fahey Throw. I’m starting over on my own in a pretty empty house. This would add an element of coziness.

  • November 9, 2010 - 1:04 PM

  • November 9, 2010 - 2:25 PM

Christina Shippey - Definitely the hot chocolate!!! I’m obsessed with hot chocolate….. I even drink it during the summer sometimes!! Just last week I bought a couple new kinds of hot chocolate…. and was disappointed by ALL of them. Needless to say I am in desperate need for some yummy hot chocolate to redeem my love for the delightful beverage!! :)

  • November 9, 2010 - 3:00 PM

Katie Whited - I would love Love LOVE the throw. Especially with it getting cooler outside I could snuggle with my babies and hubby!

  • November 9, 2010 - 3:57 PM

    EmilyBellinger - ]I love blankets.

I sleep under seven or eight of them… even in the summer. There is something very comforting about the weight and security that blankets provide, and so naturally I’d probably be most excited with that lovely throw. It also gets kind of cold in Maine, so it’s nice to snuggle in for the winter!

  • November 9, 2010 - 3:57 PM

Kate D - Alyse. you’re great. I’d definitely definitely like the blanket more than anything. Once september ends I’m nearly always chilly. I”m currently engulfed in a summery throw, which isn’t quite keeping me warm. and I love coasters. a strange thing to love, but they’re just so lovable to me. hahaha. and mugs are yummy. and chocolate is beyond yummy. oh and i love you. k bye.

  • November 9, 2010 - 6:26 PM

  • November 9, 2010 - 8:32 PM

Stef - I was going to say the mug because I love mugs, but I decided on the hot chocolate because I haven’t had it in a while, and it sounds great right about now :] You don’t actually have to send me the prize if I win– I’d feel bad since I know you in real life and all, so someone else should probably get it! But you should still put my name in and let me know if it’s drawn (because that would be exciting!), and then pick a second name for the prize :] Is that completely weird? :P

  • November 9, 2010 - 8:38 PM

I’ve fascinated your mom with tales of how I hide Dove chocolate promises all around my house so there’s always one available when I need a fix (if my kids haven’t found them first!) And with winter here (Yes, it’s darn cold out in the Great Northeast!), I love nothing more than a cup of hot chocolate each night (well, most nights!) The blanket looks comfy and soft, too….but I’d probably spill the hot chocolate on it to “christen” it’s arrival!
