Tidbit Tuesday #43

We live in Texas, and it’s becoming more and more apparent with each passing day. In some ways more pleasant than others.. On Dylan’s flight to Tulsa yesterday, he ran into a closet-cowboy with a ringtone of his pig. Not that I’m knocking that.. It actually brings me back to my Upstate NY roots. Holla if you’ve lived next to a farm for 22 years of your life! :) What is not so pleasant, however, is the cockroach we found in our sink the other day. I’d have been more than happy to find a cute little lizard in my sink. But a cockroach? No thanks. Thank you Texas, for katsaridaphobia.

English muffins have got to be the best breakfast food alive. Not that they’re alive. Yogurt is alive. Which is just plain weird. But I digress.. English muffins have become such an important part of my life, I’m considering upgrading my two-slot toaster to a four-slot toaster. Not even kidding. I know.. Groundbreaking.

The Social Network is an incredible movie. As in, I just saw it on Saturday, and could easily sit down and watch it a few more times right here and now. As I stepped inside the theatre, I dorkishly and too loudly exclaimed, “Look, it’s our entire generation right here.” The day after it opened, the house was literally packed with our peers, which in itself fascinated me to no end given how relatable this movie was to every single one of us. The Social Network brought us back to the first and long-forgotten version of THE Facebook, as well as the horrors of HTML encoding in Instructor Passetti’s ICC 565. At least for me. But the best part of our experience was overhearing the countless guys who walked out of the theatre boasting, “I could do that..” Silly boys. There’s only one Mark Zuckerberg. And he’s the MAN.

Song of the week: Sleepyhead by Passion Pit. If you’re within an arm’s length of me when this song starts playing, watch out, ’cause it’s my jam. Yes, I dance with my arms and nothing else. Dylan makes fun of me. But he’s just jealous of my sweet arm flailing skills.

Photographer Spotlight: Sarah K. Chen, based out of Orange County, CA. In an almost exclusively digital world, shooting film is making a strong comeback. Even so, there are few who I’ve seen shoot film well. Sarah is photographer who shoots both digital and film, but no matter the format, consistently wows me with her mastery of the art form we call photography. Like, jaw on the floor. Literally. Every time. With every new wedding shot, I fall more in love with the soft light and vintage tones that encompass Sarah’s style. Please see for yourself HERE and HERE!

I’m a Broadway diva at heart. I already mentioned my innate ability to dance. And I oft’ burst into song at inappropriate times without thinking twice. (Or once.) But I feel I’ve been out of the loop for so long now and am in need of some new inspiration. My repertoire of musical roles (meaning, the ones I act out when I’m alone during the day..) include Cathy from The Last Five Years, Elphie from Wicked, and Maria from West Side Story. But I’m wondering, what is YOUR favorite musical? At the very least, I know all you Gleeks out there can help a sister out. ;)

And just a quick reminder! October’s 1 For Me // 1 For You kicked off on Sunday and features two lovely items from Anthropologie. If you haven’t entered yet, it’s super easy! Just comment on this post with the name of your favorite recipe! My salivary glands are in overdrive from the comments left so far.

I leave you with a sneak from Kara and Rob’s gorgeous wedding this past Friday. I am SO excited to share this sweet couple’s day with you!

Happy Tuesday!

Nancy - Fave musical has to be Guys and Dolls! I mean, how can you go wrong with Frank Sinatra and a singing Marlon Brando (his only role ever with singing, I do believe). It’s got the AMAZING songs Luck Be a Lady, A Bushel and a Peck,I’ve Never Been In Love Before, Adelaide, and of course Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat. Please tell me you’ve seen it!!!!

Cortney - Holla back – lived next to a farm for 22 years! :) But I don’t miss that smell when they spread the manure…
I just had to comment when I saw you write about Broadway!! :D I have several faves, some old and some new… I love Oklahoma!, Guys & Dolls, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Show Boat, just to name a few… A newer one to Broadway that I love (and I don’t know if you can count it since it was adapted from the movie) is Mary Poppins… So good! The Lion King on Broadway was pretty amazing too! Then of course there’s the classics: Phantom and Les Mis – I love the version of “I Dreamed a Dream” by Idina Menzel and Lea Michele from Glee!
I still haven’t seen Wicked but I love the music!
Oh, reminiscing makes me miss my HS musical performances! :(
I remember going to see Seven Brides at Middleburgh… and we (CRCS) did Guys and Dolls too! I have to say that that one was my favorite that we did.
Oh man, and how could I forget: The Sound of Music! :)
    I <3 Broadway musicals!
