There is so much to be said on this fine Tuesday. Where to start.. Where to start.
Oh yes, I know! As of yesterday, Dylan has been assigned to Houston. (Good thing we’re moving there, right?!) :) It is great timing, and also not-so-great timing, as on one hand, he’ll be able to secure an apartment and meet with our clients in my absence. But on the other hand, I’ll miss him terribly and be the only one folding wedding programs. Lucky duck.
Now, do I or do I not admit this on my blog?… I have never flown. (But I will have to at least four times this coming summer.) Dylan is staying in Houston this weekend to hunt down our future home, and he suggested I fly down to meet him. I couldn’t pass it up, even though I’m terrified!! I bought my plane ticket last night. I then played Bible roulette (never a good idea) and came across a title in Proverbs that read, “Your Life is at Stake.” I leave Thursday. Pray for me? And leave your best, most positive opinion on flying in the comment section. :) Please and thank you!
I backed up my entire system via Apple’s Time Machine the other day. Absolutely incredible. I feel so free!!
You know how No. 31 of my 101 in 1001 post is to “Try a new hairstyle?” I’m thinking I might start a new hair phase right after the wedding. Or maybe I’ll absolutely chicken out instead. :-/ Any suggestions for how short I should go? I’ve had long hair since I was four..
Why do I get so self-conscious after someone on Facebook unfriends me? It sorta makes me laugh at how silly I am!!
Yesterday marked my last week of formal education EVER. And it totally snuck up on me too. I had no idea until about 6PM Sunday night. Then I was all, “I better brush up on my syllabi.”
Song of the week: Ava Regina by the incredible John Schmitt, (who will be playing at our wedding!) featuring my sister, Lorae French. She may hate me for this, but that’s quite okay… :) Take a look!! Rae’s gig is at Bar 4 in Park Slope, Brooklyn on Wednesday, May 5, at 9PM. BE THERE.
Countdown to wedding season: 25 days. BRING IT ALREADY. :)
Photographer of the week: Amanda Rae. :) I first discovered Amanda when she released the most kick-butt promo I’d ever seen. And simply-put, I’ve been hooked on her work ever since! She’s got a unique eye, and is an absolute sweetheart!! Check her out!
Speaking of promos, we finished shooting our own this past weekend, and I got to shoot a GORGEOUS couple. Here’s a sneak peak. The promo will be released in late June/July. But I’ll definitely be sharing some images on Thursday! :)
Happy Tuesday!!
Nina - Flying is SO fun Alyse! I flew by myself from Tennessee… I won’t tell you about the part where my flight got delayed in NYC… but that wasn’t so bad :) Really though the actual flying part is very fun, the plane will shake some especially if it’s a small one but don’t worry that’s perfectly normal (: I hope you got a window seat because it’s amazing! Okay… idk if I scared you or helped you but really, don’t worry, in the scheme of things God’s got the whole world in his hands and that includes the sky.
Rebecca - You’ll love Texas! Traffic is bad in Houston, but you’ll learn how to navigate (just like a local), and I hope you’ll able to fall in love with the culture and the ton of stuff to do in that city.
I LOVE flying, and airports. Be sure to look around at the massive amounts of people from different countries in the airport with you – definitely my favorite part. Just think – God is wanting to make a church out of people from every tribe, tongue, and nation. Pray for them as you walk by them, that they’ll be introduced to Jesus Christ, the king of all nations! :) This will be a wonderful experience. Don’t be scared. And you’ll have someone waiting for you in the airport when you land :)
Amanda Rae - Alyse!!! YOU are an absolute sweetheart!! Thank you so much for the shout out! I cannot wait to see your promo video! :)
Isabel Shepitka - Dear Alyse,
Just wanted you to know how happy we are for you! The Lord has you and Dylan on an amazing journey…!! I just know that you won’t be disappointed!
My prayers and love are with you.
Love, Isabel
p.s. chew alot of gum on the plane.. :)
Pete - I flew in an airplane to Florida and i thought it was the most awesome thing ever,(especially since i got to watch batman the whole way). But anyway the chances of a plane crashing are about the same as getting struck by lightning, and you aren’t afraid of that. Right?
Kate D - So flying is a blast. and completely not scary. I’ve actually never had a bad experience. and never been in a plane that was shaky even at all. just have something yummy to eat and some amazing music and it’ll go by in a jiffy. plus, it’s a good time to meet new people, something i love. haha.
Ashley DiPace - Ok so in all truth… the take off and the landing is a little unnerving, but thats pretty much it… the only issues I really had to deal with were two scrappy little children who were playing against eachother on a video game and one of which every time she lost would yell and kick the back of my seat… flying is a lot of fun especially once you do it once you’ll get hooked… its like getting tattooed!
Ashley DiPace - oh and btw… what I do with my hair is a take a celebrity that people say that I look like and look at their latest trends… according to friends and family my look alikes are Ashlee Simpson and Debbie Gibson… I am due for a change too and am currently googling whats been on their heads recently!
Breanna - Ok so flying isn’t bad really!!! I was terrified when i first flew by myself to see Ben in Oklahoma so i know KINDA how you feel, except it wasn’t my first time. Anywho, takeoff and landing are a lil freaky but just chew gum on the way up or your ears will hurt! And once your in the air you are going to be AMAZED at how beautiful it is from up there.. take a camera :-) Lol If you go at sunset it is sooo beautiful. OK OK this is long.. cut it short already i know!!! Much love youll be fine xoxo bre :-)
Noël - I flew in an airplane once and thought it was amazing. To be up in the air looking out of the plane was unbelievable!
Amy - I adore flying! My favorite part is seeing the clouds from the top side instead of the bottom! I hope you are able to fly on a sunny day, so you can experience such beauty…I know your photographer’s eye will appreciate it fully. I’m from Light of the World and I don’t believe we’ve officially met but I’m in awe of your pictures and I wish you the best in your wonderful new life.
Joanne - Alyse! Strike up a convo with the person next to you! Especially when the plane is taking off! You have such a sweet personality anyone will be glad to occupy your mind during the initial take off, plus you can meet some amazing people! Also! CHEW GUM while you take off, it will help your ears pop as you get into the high elevations! You’ll be fine and think of that welcoming committee in Houston. :)
